The Love Hypothesis By Ali Hazelwood - Book Review

My first book review of 2022

Plot : 3/5

Character: 3/5

Ease of reading: 5/5

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

I read this book out of pure FOMO! It is absolutely everywhere and so many people have raved about it, that I just had to give it a go. I am not typically a huge fan of the romance genre and romcom books, they often bore me.

However, I had just purchased a Kindle and it was available for 99p - so I bit the bullet.

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it! It was fun, fast-paced and engaging. A humorous, lighthearted and easy read with likeable characters. Plus women in STEM! YES! Let's have more books about that! In fact, Hazelwood’s portrayal of what women deal with when working in a male-dominated industry was realistic and astute, without being too forced.

"Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man." - The Love Hypothesis

If I am to be critical of it, the emotional immaturity of the characters (who are all highly accomplished adults) was a little annoying at times. The plot was predictable and safe but the sex scene was pretty good, with a few questionable parts.

I'm not saying I’m converted, I will probably steer clear of romcoms for a while but I’m glad I read it, and see why it is so popular.

I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Love, Laura x
